Pirimze is a cross-media project by Sophia Tabatadze. It researches social and visual changes affecting a six-floor edifice from the Soviet era, built especially to house repair and maintenance services. The theme unfolds a broader picture and shows what has been happening in Georgia since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

(Documentary, 38:40 minutes, color, Georgian with English subtitles)
Starting as a curious journey
though the labyrinths of Pirimze and observing fascinating skills performed by
craftsmen who used to work there, the story moves beyond the façade of the
newly renovated business center "Pirimze Plaza," which replaced Pirimze and
questions the need and motives of this transformation.

(Booth: 150 x 150 by 200 cm chipboard and wood)
(Wallpaper: 517 x 300 cm)
The booth, identical to the workspaces of Pirimze, is built in its manner
and style. This booth is decorated with old posters and displays the tools of
craftsmen.
Wallpaper with photographs, small monitors, texts and drawings display the
story of Pirimze intertwined with the personal story of the artist. The wallpaper functions like a map, visualising the research itself.
